Teachers Information

Hello fellow teachers,
I hope you find using this WebQuest informational for your students, and I hope that your students enjoy learning about how the Native Americans lived, throughout this fun-filled activity.

First off, I have designed this WebQuest for 5th grade students that know how to work computers. Students should have time to work on this assignment for 1-2 hours per day, for 2-4 weeks depending on how much detail you want to go into with the project. (For example, if you want them to perform a skit, or cook, you will need more time, then if you just wanted the students to write an essay.)

For the Poster Portion of the Project:
Students will be evaluated based on the Content: making sure information is accurate and based on research. Having a caption, and paragraph for the climate, plants, animals, and location of where the tribe lived.
The Shelter and materials used, the food the tribe ate.
The Culture the tribes had such as religion, tradition, games, skills, and art.

The Students will also be graded on appearance:
The poster will have to be neatly labeled with the Tribe Name.
The poster must be neat, well-planned and easy to read and understand.

For the 3-D model portion of the Project:
Students will be evaluated based on the Model being on a realistic graphic,
Natural materials are used whenever possible to build the model,
Appropriate color and details are used,
Model is need and complete, and
The student writes a brief paragraph (5-6 sentences) that explains the model they built

The grading system for the project along with the individual requirements will be graded as stated below.

The grading system that will be used will be on a E – Excellent, S – Satisfactory, N – Needs Improvement, U – Unsatisfactory scale, which is equivalent to:
E – Equivalent to A range: 100 – 90
S – Equivalent to B/C range: 89 – 80
N – Equivalent to D range: 79 – 70
U – Equivalent to F range: 69 and below
